Chairing The Love – Meet Helen

Helen

Chair the Love Wheelchair Recipient

Helen loves life. She has a large family, writes children’s books, and is very involved in her community. Most of all, Helen loves to talk to people and learn about their lives and their stories. Helen is a fiercely independent person and does not like to rely on others to do things for her. So when she had an accident and lost much of her mobility, Helen did not take it lying down. With the help of her doctor, her family, and her community she has been working hard to recover much of the mobility she lost. While she is not totally immobile, she needs assistance during her rehabilitation to maintain her independence. While she has a walker to help her walk, what she really needed to be a part of the community again was a wheelchair.

NuView’s Chair the Love Foundation in conjunction with the Center for Independent Living helped connect Helen with the wheelchair she needed in order to be independent. She can once again visit her neighbors, go to church, and go on the strolls she enjoys so much to gather inspiration for her books.

Helen and her family are monumentally grateful for the gift of freedom that she has received, and look forward to the day she is once again able to walk without help.

Chair The Love has a two-fold mission: First, give locally and improve the lives of our neighbors.  Second, reach out around the world to others in need on behalf of the Wheelchair Foundation which expands gloablly.
